Blinded by Progress title in KoreanWhat are the odds that a year after my book, Blinded by Progress, was published in English, it’d be headed for a Korean edition? Nil, I suppose, except for the internet. Somehow, through the magic of internet searches, a literary agent, Young Sun CHOI, found my book, and shared it with a small Korean publishing house in Seoul. That publisher expressed strong interest in obtaining the rights to translate it, publish it in Korean, and market it to Korean audiences worldwide.

Young Sun has been a delight to work with. Her work with Sibylle Literary Agency has been mostly wth French publishers. But she also works with Shambhala Books in Boston, a publisher whose catalogs I once received.

This past week I received a signed Agreement from Jeeyoungsa Publishing in Seoul. I promptly signed it, scanned it, and sent it back to Young Sun.

All of this is, of course, a brand new experience to me. I so appreciate the counsel I receive from my attorney, Steve Gehring, and also David Wogahn at Sellbox, Inc., who formatted the book for publication and has continued to work with me on best online marketing strategies.

Now I’m wondering about contacting literary agents who handle other languages. Will I? I’m wondering whether I’ll ever learn how Young Sun discovered the book and how the connection was made with Jeeyoungsa Publishing? An what about an audiobook version? I might try for one of those.

Interesting how one surprise development can set off so many possibilities I’d never entertained before! What fun!
